Play in the Country! Whether you want access for an entire year, a specific week or just one day, Crooked Post Ranch is the place to play! For an up close encounter with wildlife and a departure from the city life, Crooked Post Ranch has a place for you in the refreshing Kansas Country. You’ll enjoy fishing in a ten-acre, stocked pond with easy access for family and friends of all ages. Take a stroll through the timber along Mission Creek and catch a peek of some of our wildlife residents like White Tail Deer, Eastern Turkey, fox squirrels, striking cardinals, or petite blue birds.

When you spend your time along the edges of tall, swaying grasses, don’t be surprised if you see the colorful Meadowlark or kick up a covey of quail. After a hike through the woods, or a horseback ride over rolling hills or through the timber on a stretch of nature trails, you’ll enjoy returning to the picnic area conveniently located in a shady grove.

If you prefer the sun, sit a while on the dock overlooking beautiful waters and wide open spaces. Properties are for rent on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.

Hunting Properties

All properties may be used for hunting, fishing, hiking, jogging, camping, horseback riding, and nature viewing. Tents are allowed at all lease locations. Restrictions include limited or no fire use and no ATV or motorized vehicles are allowed on any of the properties. Deer stands are permissible and hunters are encouraged to place deer licks or feeders to enhance their wildlife experience.

Sunset Pasture

Sunset Pasture contains 72 acres and a stocked pond. This property is located on a dead-end gravel road 3/10 of a mile south of Dover, KS, off black-topped Douglas Rd. It’s native grasses and heavy timber provide the perfect hide-away for deer, turkey, prairie chickens, squirrels and a variety of Kansas song birds. Crooked Post Ranch – offers 175 acres that lie east and north of Mission Creek. The area is currently broken into three leases. “The Back 40” features native grass surrounded by heavy creek timber, ideally suited for hunting big bucks, turkey and coyote. This pasture is surrounded by other pasture as well as crop land for superior wildlife feeding and bedding habitat. “The Upper Section” is located at the main ranch on Docking Road, sitting along the south property line and running west to Mission Creek. The northern boundary line runs along pasture fence situated just south of a ten acre pond, then stretches over a hill and stops at Mission Creek. “The East Wing” runs just north of the South boundary fence, across the pasture to the east edge of Mission Creek. Rights to the fishing pond are shared by those who lease this plot and “The Upper Section”. Fires are restricted to the fire ring located at the large pond picnic area. No open fires are allowed.

Dragoon Creek Pasture

Dragoon Creek Pasture contains 300 acres located in Eastern Wabaunsee County off Mission Valley Road and K-4, near Eskridge, KS. Nestled at the foot of the Flint Hills, the property is comprised of native grasses and timber which provide outstanding cover for Kansas wildlife. In addition to a three-acre pond stocked with large-mouth bass, breathtaking landscape is home to native song and game birds including Meadow Lark, Cardinal, Eastern Blue Bird, Quail, and Turkey. White tail deer, rabbits, raccoon, bobcats and badgers inhabit the acreage.

Headwater Springs

Headwater Springs contains 370 acres in Eastern Wabaunsee County, 1/2 mile north of Mission Valley Road and K-4, near Eskridge, KS. The acreage consists of deep valleys with ample timber for heavy wildlife cover. It is completely surrounded by neighboring pastures and a food plot making it the ideal deer and turkey haven. Here’s where you’ll find the big bucks and the long beards. Like the Martin South property, Martin North provides scenic draws and a large pond and plenty of wide-open spaces for outdoor recreation.

Camping & Picnic Areas

Picnic patio on the pond  for group activities or a simple picnic spot for intimate outings. On foot, campers may enjoy a variety of winding nature trails that lead to secluded, serene locations. Deer trails for hiking throughout the creek bottoms are semi-maintained for easy access. If you prefer to travel on hoof, look forward to riding through nearly 300 acres of rolling hills, wooded sections and tall swaying prairies. A barn and corral are available for overnight boarding should you decide to enjoy an extended stay in rural Kansas.

RV Parking

For visitors who prefer to bring their tent on wheels, we have two RV lots at the corner of K-4 and Docking Road. There is rural water hook up and a septic dump available. Features include a horseshoe pit, camp fire ring, and large play area for kids. Be sure to venture out and enjoy hiking, fishing or nature walks for a total outdoor experience or visit Native Stone Scenic By-Way just one half mile from the RV Park.

When you are ready for a taste of small-town hospitality, Dover, KS, is just a short drive. There you’ll find the historical Sage Inn Bed & Breakfast, or  the Sommerset Hall Cafe – made famous by Good Morning America for the best homemade pie in the USA. Many more attractions await you in the heart of Wabaunsee County.

Horse Acreage

40 Acre fenced pasture Seasonally available May through October.  This 40 acre pasture is reserved exclusively for horses. This lease is available from May 15 to Oct. 15 and is restricted to five head of horses at a time. No stallions allowed. Company locks can be issued; private locks are not allowed.
